WEAPON SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The T-90S 'Bhishma' serves as the primary armored warfare spearhead of the Indian Army, with over 1,200 units in service and licensed production handled by HVF Avadi. With a combat weight of 46.5 tonnes, the T-90 combines intense firepower, low battlefield silhouette, and formidable mobility, making it deployable not only across the plains and deserts of the Western front but also across high-altitude plateaus of Eastern Ladakh at altitudes exceeding 14,000 feet.
STRATEGIC DETERRENCE & COMBAT ROLE
Representing the quantitative and qualitative core of India's armored strike corps, the T-90 provides unmatched operational flexibility. The integration of indigenous thermal imagers (BEL Commander's TI Sights) and domestic APFSDS ammunition manufactured by Munitions India Limited (MIL) has elevated the tank's operational availability to over 90%.
