Defence Research & Development Organisation
ENTERPRISE OVERVIEW
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is the premier agency under the Ministry of Defence charged with the military's research and development. With a nationwide network of 52 specialized laboratories, DRDO conceptualizes, invents, and prototypes the core technologies that safeguard Indian sovereignty.
MANUFACTURING & INDUSTRIAL FOOTPRINT
While DRDO functions primarily as the national R&D architect, it partners with domestic DPSUs and private sector leaders (L&T, Tata, Godrej) for industrial series production of its systems after successful development and military field trials.
STRATEGIC SOVEREIGNTY ROLE
DRDO is the technological bedrock of India's strategic nuclear deterrence (Agni series, K-4/K-5 SLBMs), long-range precision missiles (BrahMos, Pralay, Pinaka), electronic warfare suites (Samyukta, Uttam AESA), and naval acoustic arrays.
