WEAPON SYSTEM OVERVIEW
INS Vikrant (IAC-1) is the pride of India's maritime industry and the largest warship ever built in the country. Designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and constructed at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi, Kerala, Vikrant features over 76% indigenous content by value. Spanning 262 meters in length and displacing 45,000 tonnes, the carrier employs a Short Take-Off But Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) flight deck configuration with a 14-degree ski-jump ramp and three arrester wires.
STRATEGIC DETERRENCE & COMBAT ROLE
With the induction of INS Vikrant alongside INS Vikramaditya, India secured dual-carrier battle group operational readiness across the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Vikrant secures vital sea lines of communication (SLOCs) passing through the Strait of Malacca, Bab-el-Mandeb, and Strait of Hormuz, enforcing Indian maritime supremacy across the Indo-Pacific.

Homeported with the Western Naval Command / Eastern Naval Fleet, capable of deploying an air wing of up to 30 combat aircraft and helicopters.
