WEAPON SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Visakhapatnam-class (Project 15B) represents the pinnacle of indigenous warship construction in India. Comprising four ships—INS Visakhapatnam, INS Mormugao, INS Imphal, and INS Surat—the class features radar-transparent stealth shaping, total atmospheric control systems for CBRN warfare, and advanced integrated network sensors developed by BEL and DRDO.
STRATEGIC DETERRENCE & COMBAT ROLE
Project 15B destroyers serve as primary escort protectors for India's aircraft carrier battle groups and autonomous surface strike groups. Armed with 16 vertical-launched BrahMos missiles, they possess unmatched offensive firepower against surface fleets and land fortifications.
