WEAPON SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Project 75 Kalvari-class comprises six advanced stealth attack submarines built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai under technology transfer from France's Naval Group. Incorporating acoustic stealth hydrodynamics, rubber-cushioned machinery mounts, and advanced SUBTICS combat management, the Kalvari-class is engineered for silent hunter-killer operations across the Indian Ocean.

STRATEGIC DETERRENCE & COMBAT ROLE

Operating across maritime choke points such as the Malacca, Sunda, and Lombok Straits, the Kalvari-class provides critical submerged deterrence. The integration of DRDO's indigenous Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) module during major refits will allow these submarines to stay submerged for up to two weeks without surfacing.

OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENT & COMMAND FOOTPRINT

Submarine Squadrons based at INS Vajrabahu (Mumbai) and INS Virbahu (Visakhapatnam).
