WEAPON SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The S-400 'Sudarshan' is India's most capable long-range surface-to-air missile defense system. Acquired under a $5.43 billion contract for five squadron units, each S-400 regiment comprises mobile command posts, panoramic acquisition radars (91N6E), high-altitude target acquisition radars (96L6E), multi-function fire control radars, and multiple transporter-erector-launchers (TELs).

STRATEGIC DETERRENCE & COMBAT ROLE

The S-400 creates an integrated Anti-Access / Area-Denial (A2/AD) bubble across hundreds of kilometers of hostile airspace. Integrated directly into the IAF's Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), the S-400 can detect incoming aerial assets right from their takeoff inside neighboring borders.

OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENT & COMMAND FOOTPRINT

Deployed along the Western and Northern air sectors to protect key strategic corridors.
